Dominican designer Oscar de la Renta announced last year that he was going to be launching a collection in the spring for children in the 18 months to 14 year old range. In doing so, de la Renta joins other big fashion houses such as Gucci, Burberry & Lanvin which have also started designing for kiddies.
As VP for this project Catherine Monteiro de Barros, once head of Portuguese label Papo D’Anjo, has been sought out. Of the collection Monteiro de Barros states that the line is intended for parents who want their children to “still look like children”, and with a price point of $175.00 little girls and boys everywhere better be careful when playing in the dirt, mud, sand….and…wait….
Anyway, Johnny & I were fortunate to have been warmly received at the Oscar de la Renta boutique on Melrose Pl. to catch a glimpse of the childrenswear collection which featured florals and pastels galore for the girls and polos & blazers for the boys.
What do you make of the collection? Should your baby, toddler, or tweenager wear designer or do you think it’s a waste of money?
This makes me super proud.
